Visiting The Wizarding World of Harry Potter
It’s Harry Potter week! All week long we are celebrating The Boy Who Lived himself’s birthday. So what better way to celebrate than with a tour of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter down at Universal Orlando.
So grab some flu powder, a broom, or apparate (for wizards/witches of age) for this magical journey.
If J.K. Rowling mentioned in the series you can bet you can get it at Wizarding World. Fancy a Butterbeer? You can literally grab one anywhere. I personally love frozen Butterbeer or hot Butterbeer with a shot of firewhiskey (for us 21+ witches or wizards). Need something to nosh on? The Leaky Cauldron has traditional British pub food like fish & chips, bangers and mash, or (my favorite) a Specialty Chicken sandwich with chips. Wash it all down with a Butterbeer or Gillywater. If sweets are you jam then grab a Cauldron Cake Sugarplum’s Sweetshop in Diagon Alley.
Head over to Hogsmeade for more treats than you can can fancy! There you’ll find Hog’s Head bar where you can get (yes more) Butterbeer or if you like a good beer try one of the speciality brews exclusive Wizarding World. Ready for more eats? Right next door you’ll find The Three Broomsticks. This is where you can snack on some Shepard’s Pie or a Turkey Leg but my favorite is the Butterbeer ice cream or potted cream, so good. Lastly head on into Honeydukes to stop up on Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans, Chocolate Frogs, and Fizzing Whizzbees.
In Diagon Alley you’ll find an impressive journey awaits you within the walls of Gringotts. However my all time favorite ride is the Hogwarts Express. I mean no detail was left to the imagine with this ride and as a bonus it is the fastest way to park hop.
Over in Hogsmeade you’ll find two additional attractions. First up is a ride with Buckbeak himself on Flight of the Hippogriff which is cute and great for all ages.
Then there is Hogwarts Castle. Even if roller coasters are not your jam, do yourself a favor and do the walking tour of Hogwarts. It is quite literally one of the most amazing experiences I’ve ever had.
When you walk into The Wizarding World of Harry Potter it is like stepping into world we saw on screen. There is not a detail that was left out from the sites, the smells, even the sounds. Both times I’ve gone I have easily spent the whole day (9+ hrs) immersed in the world J.K. created and was sad to leave. Between getting a want a Ollivanders, send an owl from the Owl Post, or walking into Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes, it was the perfect (non-Disney) day.
