Star Wars, Epcot, and More from D23 Expo

Well, D23 Expo 2019 is officially underway starting with last night's media preview. The media preview was basically just a massive appetizer to to Sunday's Parks Panel, so while we didn't get any details, we did learn quite a bit!

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser

This is the official name of the upcoming Star Wars themed hotel. While opening dates, cost, etc will hopefully be revealed on Sunday, we do know Disney is calling this a first of its kind resort experience.

Guests will be in a full immersive Star Wars adventure that will include a 2 night/3 day star aboard the Halcyon, which is part of the Chandrila Star Line. So far we know experiences will include a dinner show, a jedi dojo, and of course a "docking" day at Black Spire Outpost on Batuu aka Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge.

Now as stated above this whole adventure is meant to be an immersive experience, so no just booking one night at the hotel and while pricing hasn't been confirmed, we can expect costs to be around $3K for one person and $7K+ for five or more. So start saving up those credits now.

We already knew EPCOT is getting a major facelift, with massive changes coming to innovations east and west, but now we have a little more information.

  • Moana is officially coming to EPCOT in the form of a new water trail titled The Journey of Water. This trail will lead down to The Seas with Nemo and Friends.

  • Brazil is coming to the World Showcase. Now this hasn't exactly been a secret but we expect this to be officially announced on Sunday. The Brazil pavillon will go in the 1.5 acre of land between Italy and Germany.

  • We expect to also learn more about the previously announced Play pavillon, the new festival center, the Space restaurant, and more.

Avengers Campus

The currently in construction "Marvel Land" in DCA, Paris, and Hong Kong now have official names: Avengers Campus.

As you can see from the photo above there will be a campus in Disney's Hollywood Studios and Disneyland Paris' Walt Disney Studios. The Stark Expo will be located in Disneyland Hong Kong while the Mission Station will be in Disneyland Shanghai. Over in Walt Disney World, the Xandarian Outpost will be the Guardians of the Galaxy themed roller coaster coming to EPCOT and the Mobile Base is referring to the Disney Cruise Line.

Construction is well underway for the Tron coaster over in Magic Kingdom, in fact you can get a good view of the progress from the People Mover attraction. Well, now that attraction has an official name: TRON Lightcycle Run. Our understanding is that this attraction will be VERY similar to it's Shanghai counterpart.

We should expect an official opening date announced on Sunday but we do know this is expected to be opened in 2021 in time for Walt Disney World's 50th Anniversary.

D23 is currently happening now, like as we type this, out in Anaheim. While we clearly cannot live tweet/blog since sadly we are not there this year, we will be doing recap blogs with most important info!
