Loving the Magical World of Harry Potter
Our blog might be called Cousins Who Disney but we equally love Harry Potter. As we wrap up Harry Potter week we wanted to share with y’all some of our favorite things about the Harry Potter and the magical world J.K. Rowling created!
“I solemnly swear I am up to no good.” ― Harry Potter
Favorite Book: I used to say Goblet of Fire but now its a total toss up between GoF and The Order of Phoenix. I feel like GoF is where the stakes got real but Phoenix is like ALL the information. Plus we really see the Characters grow in Phoenix.
Favorite Movie: Half Blood Prince for sure. These movie still has the drama and danger but also brings back that “wonder of magic” feeling that I feel was missing from the Goblet of Fire and Phoenix films.
Favorite Character: It’s always a toss up between Hermione and Luna for me. I am the bookworm and I just love how fearless Hermione is. Then there is Luna who walks to the beat of her own drummer and just lives her best life.
Hogwarts House: I am a Gryffindor baby. In a family full of Ravenclaws and Hufflepuffs, I’m one of the few of us that got into House Gryffindor.
“It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends.” ― Albus Dumbledore
Favorite Book: Order of the Phoenix because of the growth in both Harry and Neville in the book. I feel like Harry really starts to finally grow as the whole “chosen one”, and he helps all these kids realize that they can make a difference. And it’s in that book that Neville finally starts to gain real confidence.
Favorite Movie: Goblet of Fire because I feel it stayed the most true to the book. Aside from some of the things they left out in the maze. I also loved the things you got to see in Goblet. The dragons, the flying coach, Fred and George all old.
Favorite Character: Neville, because he grows so much through the books and becomes a leader. He becomes brave, realizes his potential, and then ultimately decides to become a teacher to help others achieve their potential also.
Hogwarts House: Ravenclaw. We embrace knowledge, because I feel that too often in movies, kids are either mocked for wanting to learn more or shown as looking down on those who aren’t seeking knowledge. And I like that in the books, the quirkiest character was a Ravenclaw, and Luna didn’t make anyone feel like less, she always encouraged and helped others. With Ravenclaws, it isn’t just intelligence that’s important. It’s also being creative and accepting others.
“Things we lose have a way of coming back to us in the end, if not always in the way we expect.” ― Luna Lovegood
Favorite Book: The one the started it all, Sorcerers Stone. Having Quirl’s character as a villain and that whole twist just seemed much better written then most of the other books.
Favorite Movie: Prisoner of Azkaban as it has the best score.
Favorite Character: Gonna have to say Neville. He’s kinda a goofy character who is still brave and willing to stand up for his friends.
Hogwarts House: Gryffindor
Favorite Book: Goblet of Fire because we get more glimpses into the wizarding world.
Favorite Movie: Deathly Hallows pt 1 as it’s one of the most accurate book to movie adaptations of the series. Plus Deathly Hallows is my 2nd favorite book.
Favorite Character: Hagrid, because he’s loyal and fights for what he believes. Plus he’s super funny.
Hogwarts House: Hufflepuff ! We are awesome because Hufflepuffs are super happy fluffy cinnamon rolls but if you hurt their friends they will unleash all their wrath on you.
Favorite Book: Deathly Hallows because it’s the final battle. It doesn’t just take place in Hogwarts, and a lot of stuff happens in it, so you can never be bored with it. Also the fact that Harry is now being chased instead of everyone loving him. Plus what you discover about Draco and Snape’s characters.
Favorite Movie: Goblet of Fire because dragons (and the other tasks).
Favorite Character: Hermione because she’s awesome, smart, loyal, and skilled. Also Ron and Harry would have been very dead without her.
Hogwarts House: Hufflepuff. I love being a Hufflepuff because I get to prove people wrong about us being just kind of dumb but nice people because they weren’t represented in the books a lot. Hufflepuff’s are awesome.
